This is something that I really wanna share with each and everyone of you especially pregnant mommies out there. I did an entry somewhere in April regarding my meeting with a Dietitian from PCMC (Referred by Dr. Seri gara-gara berat badan dah reached 80kg at that time. Haha!). I was given a pamphlet tentang amalan pemakanan yang sihat to prevent Gestational Diabetes during pregnancy which causes your blood sugars to rise. Hopefully this healthy bits and pieces would come in handy ;)

Remember to:
~ Avoid sugar and sugary food.
~ Eat regularly and do not miss meals.
~ Include a reasonable portion of "starchy" food at each meal (rice, noodles, high fiber bread, pasta and potato).
~ Choose a variety of food each day including some fresh fruits and vegetables.
~ Include meat or fish or chicken or beans or eggs at each meal. These are essential part of your diet.
~ Milk is a good source of calcium.
~ Drink at least 6 - 8 glasses of sugar free fluid each day.
~ Follow all medical advice.
The following food are high in sugar that should be avoided:
~ Sugar (all types).
~ Canned fruits in syrup.
~ Sweet biscuits and cakes (cream filled or chocolate coated).
~ Chocolate, sweets.
~ Condensed milk.
~ Desserts with sugar/condensed milk (ice kacang, cendol, sago gula melaka, etc).
~ Ice-cream.
~ Soft drinks (Coke, Pepsi, cordials, etc).
Make use of:
~ Low sugar alternatives (diet drinks, low sugar jams, pure fruit spread, etc).
~ Sweeteners may be taken if desired (Equal, Pall Sweet, etc).

And I did mentioned that I wanna share about my food log kan? Aku kongsi la sikit ye, together with the Dietitian's reply as well..
Monday 15/4/2013
9.00 am : Fried Spaghetti
10.30
am : Kuih Kasuwi (4 small pieces)
1.00
pm : Cuttlefish Teppanyaki
5.00
pm : Nestum 3-In-1 (Cereal drink)
7.30 pm : Tuna Sandwich
Thank you for the food log and
gauging on this your carbohydrate intake for the day is still high. May I know the portion too. And please do not drink any 3 in
1 drinks. 2 in 1 is fine and you either go without sugar or add in Equal /Pal
Sweet etc. Reduce kueh intake. Consume more vegetables & high fibre foods. And send me more food log please.
Tuesday 16/4/2013
8.30
am : Sausage McMuffin (bread + sausage patty + cheese), 1 hash brown, medium size
orange juice [from Mc Donald’s]
12.00
pm : ¼ chicken with potato chips and grilled vegetables [from Nando’s]
4.00
pm : Nasi lemak (small serving)
7.30
pm : 1 bowl of asam laksa
Looking at Tuesday’s meal: the
OJ would be too sweet. You need to take a light snack around 10.30am or so. 4pm snack ok if it’s the bungkus
one. And 7.30pm is fine.
Wednesday 17/4/2013
7.30
am : 2 slices of wholemeal bread (toast) with cheese spread
10.45
am : 10 pieces of cream crackers (cicah Milo)
1.30
pm : Caesar Salad with chicken
5.00
pm : 2 slices of white bread with sardine
8.00
pm : Steamboat (mushroom, tofu, chicken sausage, fishball)
Wednesday’s intake looks better and you are spreading it out nicely. However you can eat the snack
earlier than at 10.45am and maybe you need not consume 10 pieces of crackers
but limit to 4-5 pieces and add plain peanut butter or cheese over it. Are you game in drinking some
milk products eg: Nutrent Diabetic ? or Glucerna SR? I have some samples which
I can pass it to you to try. Afternoon snack OK but can be
even better with wholemeal bread :) And dinner is great!
Thursday 18/4/2013
7.30 am : 2 slices of wholemeal bread (toast) with cheese spread
10.30 am : 1 banana
12.00 pm : 1 bowl of curry mee
3.45 pm : Caesar Salad with chicken
8.00 pm : White rice (1 senduk) with daging (5 small pieces) masak lemak cili padi and sayur kacang boncis
Oh dear.. 1 senduk aje nasi putih? Were you not hungry? You know you can go up to 1 cup level as per the standardized cup measurement used for baking? But the rest of the day menu & timing is good and improving as you progress :)

So.. Tu la ceritanya.. To tell you the truth, since ada someone monitor my diet during that time takde la berat badan naik mendadak. Dah lepas bersalin ni pulak, kena la amalkan mana yang boleh diikut..
Till then :)
